One phone call.
In 2008 I got a call from a friend who designs aluminum boats - Bill Lincoln. He was having a meeting the next morning with a gentleman from Texas , Phil Hulsizer, about building some aluminum boats and asked if I would like to join them. Sure.
Phil turned out to be the founder of the world's largest welding services company (Welding Services, Inc.). He had recently sold his company and was interested in building some aluminum boats but didn't really have experience with the marine market - design, sales, marketing.
We were an immediate match.
I've spent the last 12 year creating an east coast market for welded aluminum boats in the 18'-30' range with my other company ( Black Lab Plate Alloy Boats ). We've had great success designing and selling welded aluminum modified-vee center console and small pilothouse boats. We have an outstanding customer base, a great builder and have succeeded in introducing welded aluminum boats to east coast mariners and fishermen.
Phil spent the last 28 years building a worldwide company that specialized in the most sophisticated and complicated welding imaginable. An incredibly hard worker Phil could be playing golf or fishing the world but would rather be welding beautiful, well-made aluminum alloy boats.
Phil asked what I wanted to build besides the 20'-26' boats and I said that I had always wanted to do big, deep-vee center consoles along the lines of Contender, SeaVee, Yellowfin, etc.
Together we decided to start a new company. Rock Salt Alloy Boats. Together we could combine extensive knowledge of boats and sophisticated aluminum fabrication to create great boats.
Phil and I are proud to bring you this company and these boats.
Sincerely,
Jay Perrotta
